It all started when...
I am now privileged to be working with the England under 15 National Squad for the coming season. Additionally I support 20 premier league and football league players with mental conditioning support. I am the author of "Educating Football" which has received national and international press coverage, with interviews on BBC Radio 5 Live, Talk Sport, The Daily Mail podcast and Love Sport Radio. I have featured on a Netflix documentary which entailed supporting professional athletes in need of mental and technical performance support.
Education, leadership and sport is my life passion. I was formally an academy footballer for Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club for 8 years, which when ended, led to an education career.
I was short-listed for "The National Teacher of the Year" award in 2008, whilst a Vice-Principal. I worked in four large inner London Secondary Schools with responsibility for whole school Teaching and Learning which involved coaching and mentoring colleagues and adding value to teaching pedagogy across several academic faculties.
I qualified as an Advanced Skills Teacher in 2006 and specialised in:
Elitism in Physical Education,
Behaviour for Learning
Assessment for Learning
whilst also advising the government on good practice on behaviour strategies in the process.
Mentoring and coaching hundreds of teachers over 17 years was a passion, thus raising outcomes through effective teaching and learning strategies. Strategic and operational improvement throughout my career was significant. Working in two schools in special measures each over a five year period. Both were successes and graded as "Outstanding" and "Good" schools within 2/3 years respectively.
I was a Senior Lecturer of Physical Education at the University of East London between 2009-12, and have guest lectured on topics such as "Leadership" at Universities across the UK. These included The Institute of Education, Brighton University and UEA. I completed my MA in Teaching, Learning, Leadership and Educational Psychology from Kings College London. I have regularly mentored and consulted on business seminars across the UK.
Now back working in the professional football industry I work with one of the England Football Team National Squads. Previously in professional football I was heavily involved in ensuring players and coaches across my institution fulfilled their personal and professional objectives. This included daily discussions with playing and coaching staff about how to improve learning, delivery, the reflective process, and accelerated learning techniques but also supporting staff and players in achieving outstanding outcomes in every facet of their roles.
These experiences led to me writing about teaching, learning, leadership and elite sport which can be purchased at www.educatingfootball.com. I have currently been offered a PhD in sport psychology and awaiting sponsorship.
