Steve Sallis is now privileged to be working with the England under 15 National Squad for the coming season. He supports 20 Premier League and Football League Players with mental conditioning support. Steve delivers Leadership Seminars on the UEFA Pro and A’ Licence for the Scottish Football Association. He is the author of "Educating Football" which has received national and international press coverage, which includes interviews on the iconic ‘High Performance Podcast’ (12 Million Downloads), BBC Radio 5 Live, Talk Sport, The Daily Mail podcast and Love Sport Radio. Steve has featured on a Netflix documentary which entailed supporting world class athletes in need of cognitive and technical performance support.

Education, Leadership and Sport is his life passion. Steve was formally an academy footballer for Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club for 8 years, which when ended, led to an education career.

He was short-listed for "The National Teacher of the Year" award in 2008, whilst a Vice-Principal. Steve worked in four large inner London Secondary Schools with responsibility for whole school Teaching and Learning which involved coaching and mentoring colleagues and adding value to teaching pedagogy across several academic faculties. 

He qualified as an Advanced Skills Teacher in 2006 whilst also advising the government on good practice on behaviour strategies in the process.  He specialises in:

  • Behaviour for Learning

  • Assessment for Learning

Mentoring and coaching hundreds of teachers over 17 years was a passion, thus raising outcomes through effective teaching and learning strategies. Strategic and operational improvement throughout his career was significant. Steve worked in two schools in special measures and each over a five year period both were successes and graded as "Outstanding" and "Good" schools within 2/3 years respectively.

Steve was a Senior Lecturer in Physical Education at the University of East London between 2009-12, and has guest lectured on topics around "Leadership" at Businesses, Schools & Universities across the world. These include, Linkedin Head office in Dublin, The Institute of Education, Brighton University and UEA. He completed his MA in Teaching, Learning, Leadership and Educational Psychology from Kings College London in 2013, and is now studying for his MBA. He has regularly mentored and consulted on business seminars across the UK.

Now back working in the professional football industry Steve has previously worked with one of the England Football Team National Squads and consults for the Scottish Football Association. Previously whilst working in professional football he was heavily involved in ensuring players and coaches across his institution fulfilled their personal and professional objectives. This included daily discussions with playing and coaching staff about how to improve learning, delivery, the reflective process, and accelerated learning techniques but also supporting staff and players in achieving outstanding outcomes in every facet of their roles. 

These experiences led to Steve writing his book ‘Educating Football’. It has sold 3000 books worldwide. It challenges thinking on teaching, learning, leadership and elite sport.
